My FMIL asked if I would mind if she helped with the planning of Charlie and my wedding. I told her I couldn't guarantee that all her ideas would be used, but I'd consider them. SOO we were sitting around the big table at Charlie's house with two of my friends, my mom, my FMIL, and Charlie's little sister. Here's the conversation...
FMIL "I think we should just have an ORDINARY small ceremony with just immediate family."
ME "Well, Charlie and I want... Wait, ordniary?"
FSIL "Yeah, Mom and I discussed it, and we think you should wear mom's dress for the wedding, and say the vows mom and dad said at their wedding."
ME "Ummmmm... Charlie and I wrote our own vows and I already bought a dress."
FMIL "Well can't you make one sacrafice?"
ME "Why should I have to sacrafice something for MY wedding?"
FMIL "Because it means something to Charlie..."
Well, if it really means something to Charlie, then why hasn't he come to me about it????? An ordinary wedding??? It was Charlie's idea for us to have a outside wedding at night, with some fireworks (timed perfectly to go off as we kiss)... How does that stuff fit into the ordinary wedding that "means something" to Charlie.
My dad spent over $2,750 on my dress, that is btw non-refundable. The things I wrote in my vows to Charlie, are from my heart. I want to say what I'm thinking, not what Charlie's mom thought about his dad.
We are on a $18,000 budget... So far we've spent:
Our rings together: $2,225
Dress: $2,750
Charlie'sTux: $900
Groomsmen Tux's altogether: $1,956
Maid of Honor dress: $899
B.maid dresses altogether: $1,798
Cake: $700
Wedding Loca.: $2,000
Recept. Loca.: $850
Rehearsal Dinner plans: $1,290
Total= $13,143
So we have roughly around $4,857 for the floral arrangements, sparklers, gifts for the bridal party, and weddings favors.
